The Name:
The name Gadarn is an Old Welsh/Celtic word meaning "Mighty", "Valiant" or "Strong" and was usually used as a title or honorific: something like John the Mighty. The most famous use of the name is from St. Derfel Gadarn. Prince Derfel Gadarn was born around 566 in pre-Anglo-Saxon Britain. As a young man he is said to have joined the Court of the ageing High-King Arthur and fought for him at the Battle of Camlann of which he was one of only seven survivors. The horrors of the battle turned Derfel to religion and he became a hermit at Llandderfel in Gwynedd, but was later persuaded to become Abbot of Ynys Enlli. He died and was buried there on 6th April 660. Traditionally, depictions of St Derfel Cadarn show him as a warrior in full armor.

A note about raiding in Gadarn
We are a casual raiding guild. We don't do full clears of Naxx 10 every week. We also do not plan on expanding to do 25 mans although some of us have done them with friends in other guilds or pugs. (And some crazy adventures just for achievements)

Our raiding philosophy is to do raids and do them well but not to have raids as the focus of the guild. We are not really that hardcore as far as requirements and scheduling/attendances as go. Our raid progression is more about fitting fun challenges and interesting raids for our members on a reasonable schedule than "progression".
